Bryan Fuller
Heroes returns this fall with a very anticipated fourth season but with one less member. Talented writer Bryan Fuller (Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies) leaves Heroes for the second time due to new commitments with the Peacock network. He told exclusively to AICN that “Development was really starting to heat up, And it appears like I may be writing multiple pilots for NBC so that wasn’t leaving a ton of room for ‘Heroes,’ unfortunately.”
Many fans were hoping Heroes would return to its Season 1 grandeur with Fuller on-board again, after the less successful Seasons 2 and 3. Despite rumors of creative differences with series creator, Tim Kring, Bryan leaves Heroes with good news, “We [the writers] crafted some really great arcs for the season that I’m excited to see come to fruition. I love that cast dearly and am sad to go, but the plate — she was over-flowing.”
Bryan Fuller worked as a co-executive producer of Heroes during the critically acclaimed Season 1. He is responsible for writing “Company Man,” one of the best episodes of the series. Unfortunately, he departed from the show to produce his own creation “Pushing Dasies” for ABC. After the network cancelled his show, Bryan returned to Heroes for the second half of Season 3. Despite the plummeting ratings and creative flunks, Heroes saw a turning point when Bryan wrote “Cold Snap,” the strongest episode for the show since Season 1.
Fuller’s return also marked a strong turning point for Ali Larter’s character Tracy. Before he came back to the writers room, Tracy was stated to die in a Heroic but disappointing way (in a similar manner as Niki). However, Tracy Strauss saw a complete transformation from the calculative politician when she saved Micah from Danko’s soldiers and “sacrificed” herself. He stated in previous interviews that he was crafting a major story line for Ali Larter and Tracy, one of his favorite characters.
